Well, she eeked out a victory. It was good to see her get her first submission, but i think she went that route because she wasnt comfortable standing back up with evinger. Also she barely made it to the catch weight of 140, the normal division is actually 135 and she really can't make the weight. It will be interesting to see how many more matchups are willing to meet her at her rock bottom cut weight. But of course she looked great and she was well spoken in victory. Can't wait to see her next match.
Diaz, wow, that was a lackluster performance on his part as well. You could tell he had no concerns of getting knocked out, and he played like he could get a sub at a moments notice so he kept putting on the aggressive ground attack. Aina happened to have a bit better defence on the ground than he expected so he is lucky to come away with a victory. Definitely did not look like the Diaz that knocked out lawler and submitted gomi.
As to the Tapout comment. Sharron 'Rob Roy' Legget is a touch of kilter what can i say. They tend to find raw talent that is a touch on the 'unrefined' stage still and they encourage success to struggling athletes. They may be misfits but they are helping support those that bring us the entertainment and they are doing it from a grass roots level. So as far as the antics (which are likely played up for the tv show) I think we should give them a bit of slack.
Gina is a standup fighter and I seriously doubt she would be uncomfortable standing up with Tonya the wrestler. She's been training at Randy Couture's camp and got the reversal so why not put her new ground game to use? No sense letting someone up when you can choke them out for a tap out and beat them at their own game. She just added another weapon in her arsenal and a great accomplishment for her MMA record. Looks like Diaz has been paying attention to his critics. He wasn't his cocky self and was showing much more good sportsmanship (never mind, I was thinking of <![CDATA[<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/BbmRw-ymOnk&rel=0" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/BbmRw-ymOnk&rel=0</a>]]>. I get those two mixed up) However, his performance was lacking. I don't like those soft punches even though they were scoring and I understand the tactic but this is MMA - you've got five, five minute rounds to knock your opponent out or do some damage - this isn't boxing. As far as Tapout goes. They really should leave the theatrics at WWE/WWF. I do appreciate what they are doing for fighters though. |

Well, 40 lbs is located in her boobs! Gina is training at Randy Couture's gym now, which will make her a well rounded mixed martial artist. Randy is a living legend. At 44 years of age, he holds the heavy weight belt and dominates guys half his age. She will learn a lot from him and his camp. I'm not sure if Germaine is going into MMA but if she is, she better pick up some more skills and tools than just Muay Thai LMAO, it's great that you guys never heard of her but now you guys are sportin' Gina Carano avatars! I can stare at her goofy picture for hours..ok, I'm exaggerating  |
